The CNPS is a statewide non-profit organization of amateurs and professionals with a common interest in California's native plants. Local chapter activities include plant sales, field trips, weed eradication, conservation projects, rare plant monitoring, plant community sampling, and educational outreach.
The group meets weekly in the Sierra foothills/Sacramento/Davis area to practice keying out plants using The Jepson Manual and other plant identification resources. Their desire is to create a supportive environment to learn botany identification skills from one another and to share knowledge of plants and plant communities.
